Alphabetical Diaries

A book about repetition and variation. A book about the fixedness of being a person. A book about time. For Alphabetical Diaries, Sheila Heti collected half a million words from a decade’s worth of journals, put them in a spreadsheet, sorted them alphabetically, then spent ten years cutting, shaping and refining. A book that is a pleasure. A book that reimagines what narrative is. A book that wants to know something true about life.
